On November 5 1983 at 4:00 am, in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, there were four divers while drilling in the Frigg gas field in a decompression chamber system attached by a trunk (a short passage) to the diving bell on the rig were being assisted by two dive tenders.
At the time of the accident happened, one diverse whose name was Helvic was about to close the door between the chamber system and the trunk. He was immediately shot out through the door and mutilated at that time and the rest of the three divers died on the spot.

The Committee concluded of the incident that the accident happened because of human omission, who opened the clamp. and it is also the failure of engineering. The whole entire accident shocked the world in 1983 as there are several people died and injured including four divers and two tenders.
The four dead divers were Roy P. Lucas (British, 38), Edwin Arthur Coward, (British, 35 years old) Truls Hellevik (Norwegian, 34), and Bjørn Giæver Bergersen (Norwegian, 29). They were assisted by two dive tenders, William Crammond (British, 32) and Martin Saunders.
