Fort Meade, MD Murder-suicide: Retired service member identified as suspect in Wednesday morning murder-suicide in Odenton.

Officials claimed that on Wednesday in Odenton, a retired military veteran shot and killed his adult son before killing himself at neighboring Fort George G. Meade.

Police reported the incident as a “murder/suicide.” The motive is still being looked into by homicide police. Until they inform the family, the names of the father and son are being withheld by the officers.

Around 9:40 a.m., according to Ft. Meade officials, they discovered the father deceased on the Army base. His body was discovered by the Directorate of Emergency Services in the parking area of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service.

After that, at roughly 9:50 a.m., the Anne Arundel County Police Department said it was summoned to the 500 block of Retreat Court for a “suspicious death.”

Within an apartment, the 34-year-old son was discovered by police “suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s).”

The son was located at the Renew housing complex, according to the police. It is a distance of 5.5 miles and 17 minutes by car from the location of his father’s death.
